MCRC licensed child care programs provide care for toddlers, preschoolers and school age children. All of our licensed programs have to meet and maintain specific provincial regulations and standards as set out in the Day Nurseries Act. These regulations are intended to protect the health, safety and well-being of children.
Examples of requirements include standards for:
- allowable sizes for groups of children, by age and required number of staff
- staff qualifications;
- learning programs appropriate to specific age groups;
- nutrition based on the Canada Food Guide including meals and snacks;
- hygiene and cleanliness including space for washing and bathroom areas;
- emergency and safety procedures including monthly fire drills;
- behaviour guidance policies;
- indoor and playground equipment, toys and furnishings;
- adequate indoor play space and natural light;
- up to date and current health and medical records.
All MCRC locations and programs strive to be Peanut Free Zones. Parents, staff and visitors are asked to not bring in any food to our locations to ensure the safety of all children.
MCRC has a variety of licensed programs:
Child Care Centres
Nursery School Programs
School Age Programs
Licenced Home Child Care
Parent Handbook
Excellent, quality care is a standard for MCRC and as such, we strive to maintain high standards beyond the minimal requirement of the Day Nurseries Act. Many of our programs are involved with Quality First and it is our goal to have all of our programs actively involved by the end of December 2011.
