MCRC embraces a Reggio Emilia inspired philosophy in all program areas. This is best described as an approach to learning which builds upon the interests of children. Interactions between children are closely observed by program teachers and children are given opportunities for learning, based on these observed interests. Staff, parents and children work as a collaborative team, directing learning through an enriched environment influenced by project work, communication through various media, research and documentation. Our Teachers and Supervisors are registered Early Childhood Educators (ECE) and all staff members are required to maintain their registration with the College of ECE and they are also required to maintain a current First Aid / CPR certificate.
MCRC has a very active “Art at the Centre” program which is designed to give children, teachers and families access to visual art materials as well as, to a professional artist (Atelierista). They explore this media as a form of communication and discovery. This approach to art education, will invite children to participate in creative learning. The adults and children involved in the Art at the Centre program will have the pleasure of thinking, playing, talking, learning and inventing together. The Atelierista is available for all MCRC programs including school age programs.
