MCRC Registration Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register for Family Resource Programs?
- Registration for Family Resource Programs is completed every 8 weeks, for one session at a time.
- Registration may be completed online or in person during registration week, on a first come first serve basis.
- You must create an account in order to register for programs online.
- Registrations submitted in person will be processed as they come in.
- In person registration is at MCRC, 410 Bronte St. S between 8:30am-4:30pm
- Registration will not be accepted prior to the registration date.
- Registration dates are listed on our website under Early Years Guide and Schedule.

How Do I register for Ontario Early Years Programs?
- OEYC registered programs are free and run in 7 week sessions
- You must create an account in order to register online at www.mcrc.ca under Early Years Registration.
- Registration for the Mother Goose "registered programs" are done by first come first serve, they can be done online, or in person at MCRC 410 Bronte Street front desk, until the program fills.
How many programs can I register for at one time?
- Space permitting, you may register for multiple paid programs.
What ages are your programs for?
- Our programs are for children newborn to 6 years of age, not yet in Grade 1.
- Programs are developmentally appropriate for specific age groups, so older or younger children are not permitted in age specific programs, unless otherwise noted (i.e. younger siblings not yet crawling may attend ).
Do you close for holidays or inclement weather?
- MCRC will close if the Halton District School Board closes the schools due to weather conditions. Up-to-date information can be found at www.hdsb.ca , or you can check your local radio or television station.
- Parents will not be reimbursed for cancellations due to weather conditions.
- The OEYC calendar follows the Halton District School Board's schedule, closing for two weeks at Christmas and one week at March Break. MCRC is closed for all statutory holidays.
When do I register for programs?
- MCRC runs programs in 8 week sessions. See session and registration dates on our website under Early Years Guide and Schedule.
What is your cancellation policy if I cannot attend a program I registered for?
- Refunds and program change requests for programs must be completed within 2 weeks prior to the program start date.
- A $25.00 administration fee is charges for all refund and change requests made prior to this deadline date.
- If you cannot attend an Ontario Early Years program please advise us as soon as possible so that we can allow a family on the waitlist to attend. Our programs always have waitlists.
Why do I need to identify an emergency contact?
- In case of an emergency and we are unable to reach the primary contact, an alternate emergency contact is required. If your child is registered in a child only program, this is required.
What if I don't have a credit card?
- If you want to register for a fee-based program, you can do so in person and pay with cash or cheque. Registration is still completed online, but with the assistance of an MCRC staff.
- If you are only registering for free programs, you do not need a credit card.
If I can't afford the program fee are subsidies available?
- We would like all families to have the opportunity to participate our programs, so our free Ontario Early Years programs are registered via a lottery system to allow for equal opportunity.
Can my child with special needs attend programs?
- MCRC takes pride in offering our programs to all children, newborn to 6 years, regardless of the level of their need. All children are welcomed into our programs and staff promotes inclusive social play and full participation in routines and activities in the classroom. Please fill out all necessary details when registering to ensure the best experience possible for your child.
Why didn't I get all the programs I requested?
- We have to limit the numbers participating in programs to maintain our ratios of children to staff and because of room size. Programs may have filled to capacity before you tried to register. Online, you may place yourself on a waitlist and will be contacted if a space opens up.
- Perhaps your child was the wrong age for this program.
Do I need to provide a snack for my child(ren)?
- MCRC strives to be a nut free facility.
- Snacks are provided by MCRC for Kids Konnection programs. Please make sure all allergy information and special instructions are up to date in your account. You will be contacted by MCRC staff before the start of the program for severe allergies requiring the use of an epi-pen.
- You may bring a nut free snack for your child to drop-in programs. Please enjoy the snack with your child in the designated areas.
Does my child need to be toilet trained to attend the Kids Konnection program?
- No - Please let the teachers know what stage your child is at for consistency in their toileting routine. Please bring extra clothing in case of accidents.
Is outdoor play available?
- MCRC does not have a designated outdoor play area.
Can another adult attend programs with my child(ren)?
- Yes another responsible caregiver or adult may attend programs with your child as long as you have listed them in your account and registered them with the child.
- We always welcome grandparents or other close relatives to join you with your child.
What are the qualifications of MCRC staff?
- Our staff is experienced, caring and have a love for supporting families. Most of our staff are Registered Early Childhood Educators and have trained for many years to develop skills and expertise in the field of childcare.
- Our program staff is trained annually in CPR/First Aid.
What can I expect at MCRC?
- You will learn and grow together. MCRC is a place to make friends, share ideas and build confidence. MCRC is the Ontario Early Years Centre for the North Halton community and is a leader in providing quality parent-child programs.
What if my child does not settle in a Kids Konnection or other child only program?
- MCRC staff is well trained and experienced and can deal with most difficult situations in a respectful, professional and calm manner. A parent will be contacted if the staff deems it necessary.
I would like to volunteer - how can I get more involved in MCRC?
- There are lots of ways to get involved. Volunteers assist us in the office, classrooms and special events and on various committees. If you would like to learn more please contact our Volunteer Coordinator.
