What Quality First means to your child
Quality First helps to create positive, meaningful and sustained change in the design and delivery of quality child care and learning in the Halton child care community by:
- Developing the professionalism of individuals involved in the care and education of young children
- Improving the level of quality indicators in children’s programs
- Collaborating with local colleges to promote professional readiness of early childhood educators
History
The Quality First initiative evolved because it was recongnized as a need by the Halton early childhood education community’s recognition of the need to develop and support a high level of quality care and education for young children and their families. An initial event brought together a group of over 80 individuals from various community organizations in a “Speaking of Quality Forum” on April 17, 2004. At that event, individuals participated in a facilitated process of generating ideas and recommendations about how quality could be improved. This Forum was the beginning of the initiative now called Quality First!!
