What is quality child care?
Child care should support a child’s emotional, social, intellectual and physical well-being. There are two key components to consider when looking for quality child care: the child care provider and the environment.
Child care providers are the key to quality child care. They are the individuals who will interact with your child, plan the activities to support the children and communicate with you about your child’s daily activities.
The environment includes the actual play spaces, the equipment and the daily activities. All of these components need to be considered when looking for quality.
THRC’s Child Care Directory and Information Line provides parents with:
- Qualified, Registered Early Childhood Educators offering a “warm-line” response to enquiries from parents requiring assistance with their child care search
- Information and resources for parents on what to look for in quality child care
- Individualized searches using the Community Services Inventory (CSI) database showing child care options in specific areas of Halton Region.
