Mother Goose Drop-In

Parents, you “are the first and most powerful influence on your child’s learning, development, and well-being.” This group provides valuable time to connect with your baby as you sing-a-long to songs. This group offers an opportunity to demonstrate and expand on early literacy and language through repetition and memory. Our Registered Early Childhood Educator is your partner in this interactive and enjoyable session.

Age: 0-12 months

Adult & Child Together Drop-In - Family

Children grow and flourish in a positive environment and within the context of healthy relationships. Our Adult and Child together Drop-ins gives parents/caregivers and children an opportunity to explore, engage, and express themselves together which helps strengthen the bond between adult and child. There are many creative activities, sensory and early literacy experiences to choose from within the room and a registered Early Childhood Educator in a co-learner role with the adults and children participating. 

Age: 0-6 years (not yet attending grade 1) No registration required

  1. MCRC 410 Bronte Street S –Willow Room - Upstairs south entrance of building
  2. EarlyOn Child and Family Centre at Viola Desmond Public School, 1450 Leger Way
  3. Southside Community Church, 200 Main St E, upstairs, enter at rear entrance.

Music and Movement Drop-In

Let’s get active together! Adults and children can participate in a variety of gross motor activities that stimulate muscle development, balance, flexibility, coordination, language skills, turn taking and social skills all while having lots of fun! This program will include balls, slides, bean bags, hula hoops, tunnels, balance beam, and rocking boats as well as a musical component and circle time.  

Age: 0-6 years (not yet attending grade 1)

Meet at Mill Pond

This year-round, outdoor Early Years Drop-In program gives adults and children an opportunity to explore and discover the wonders of nature at the beautiful Mill Pond. Parents and caregivers will have a chance to develop language skills with their children while walking around the pond. Children often express themselves in new and different ways when placed in an outdoor environment. Make sure to dress appropriately for the weather.

Age: 0- 6 years
Location: Rotary Park Milton - 100 Garden Lane L9T 1S2  Participants will meet at the pool pavilion, near the side parking lot that faces the open field

Baby & Me Parenting Drop-In

For parents of babies up to a year. Bring your baby and join our group to network with others while chatting about the joys and challenges of being a parent. Weekly topics are introduced, however any question is open for discussion. No fee and registration is not required.  Click here for monthly topics.

 

Cruisin' and Groovin'

Does your toddler love to move, run, jump, crawl, skip and needs an opportunity in a safe, age appropriate space that allows this to happen naturally? This program is just what you have been looking for. Toddlers are just learning to challenge themselves and become more independent so we have created a program that is age specific and lots of fun! Led by a qualified teacher with a background in music, this program will help your child with coordination, balance, flexibility, language and social skills. (please only register for 1 day to allow other participants)

Age: 16-24 months

Jumpin' and Jammin' (Preschool)

Preschoolers can join with their parent/caregiver in a program that encourages physical fitness while strengthening your child’s large muscles through active movement activities and music. Children will learn a variety of skills such as balance, coordination, flexibility, listening skills, social skills, language and cooperation. Led by a qualified staff with a background in music, this program is age specific, but younger siblings may attend. (please only register for 1 day to allow other participants)

Age: 3 to 5 years
Time: 1) Tuesdays 2:00 pm-3:00 pm
2) Wednesdays 2:30 pm- 3:30 pm
Duration: 7 weeks

Jumpin' and Jammin' (Toddler)

Music invites all of us to want to move and express ourselves. In this NEW program see how using many different music genres, instruments, songs, movement and dance will inspire you and your child to get active! This is an age specific program where your child has an opportunity to meet other children, which helps encourage social development. Language skills and learning simple routines will also be demonstrated. Our qualified staff has a music background and many years of experience running our music and movement programs at MCRC.

Age: 24 to 36 months

Fabulous Fridays

Join us for a coffee and informal parenting chats while you network with other parents and connect with our Parent Educator. Children are welcome to come and enjoy quiet play activities while we chat.

Summer Playtime in Park

EarlyON will be at local parks over the summer (July/August) with fun, simple activities and resources for you and your children. There will be a variety of weekly visitors from the community along with Early Childhood Educators to provide support , resources and lots of fun! Artists and Families Together Open Studio

Children and families will have the opportunity to visit the newly renovated Artists and Children Together (ACT) art studio. Each week we will offer a variety of quality art materials for families to explore side by side with an ACT artist. Our Artists and Families Together Open Studio allows children and parents/caregivers to explore, engage and express themselves together through the arts. The possibilities are endless!

Age: 0-12 years -No registration required- Limited spaces. Younger siblings welcome.

Big Body Movement

Join us during this active drop-in time which promotes healthy lifestyle habits for your child's future wellbeing. Physical activity and movement of large muscles promotes coordination, balance, and flexibility and at the same time prepares your child for more challenging movements as they grow and develop. Experience a fun and energetic morning facilitated by our educators along with free active play.

Baby & Toddler Gross Motor Drop In

This NEW Baby Toddler Drop-in gives parents/caregivers and children an opportunity to explore, engage, and express themselves using larger muscles to build on their gross motor development.  The room is set up with a variety of larger equipment such as ramps, balls, ride on toys, and musical instruments to promote physical activity. A registered Early Childhood Educator in a co-learner role with the adults and children participating.
