As an EarlyON Child and FamilyCentre, we offer support and resources to assist parents and caregivers in their roles, as well as provide early learning experiences for children from birth to 6 years of age. A positive learning experience is provided through both drop-in and registered programs. All EarlyON programs are free of charge.

Mother Goose Drop-In

Parents, you “are the first and most powerful influence on your child’s learning, development, and well-being.” This group provides valuable time to connect with your baby as you sing-a-long to songs. This group offers an opportunity to demonstrate and expand on early literacy and language through repetition and memory. Our Registered Early Childhood Educator is your partner in this interactive and enjoyable session. There are now Drop-In Mother Goose programs located at MCRC, Main Branch Library, or Beaty Branch Library.

Adult & Child Together Drop-In - Family

Children grow and flourish in a positive environment and within the context of healthy relationships. Our Adult and Child together Drop-ins gives parents/caregivers and children an opportunity to explore, engage, and express themselves together which helps strengthen the bond between adult and child. There are many creative activities, sensory and early literacy experiences to choose from within the room and a registered Early Childhood Educator in a co-learner role with the adults and children participating.

Music and Movement Family Drop-In

Offered 2 mornings per week. Let’s get active together! Adults and children can participate in a variety of gross motor activities that stimulate muscle development, balance, flexibility, coordination, language skills, turn taking and social skills all while having lots of fun! This program will include balls, slides, bean bags, hula hoops, tunnels, balance beam, and rocking boats as well as a musical component and circle time.

Meet at Mill Pond - Adult & Child Together - Drop-in

This year-round, outdoor Early Years Drop-In program gives adults and children an opportunity to explore and discover the wonders of nature at the beautiful Mill Pond. Parents and caregivers will have a chance to develop language skills with their children while walking around the pond. Children often express themselves in new and different ways when placed in an outdoor environment. Make sure to dress appropriately for the weather.

Baby & Me Parenting Drop-In

For parents of babies up to a year. Bring your baby and join our group to network with others while chatting about the joys and challenges of being a parent. Weekly topics are introduced, however any question is open for discussion. No fee and registration is not required.  Click here for monthly topics.

 

Cruisin' and Groovin'

Does your toddler love to move, run, jump, crawl, skip and needs an opportunity in a safe, age appropriate space that allows this to happen naturally? This program is just what you have been looking for. Toddlers are just learning to challenge themselves and become more independent so we have created a program that is age specific and lots of fun! Led by a qualified teacher with a background in music, this program will help your child with coordination, balance, flexibility, language and social skills. (please only register for 1 day to allow other participants)

Age: 16-24 months
Time: Tuesday 9:15 am-10:00 am

Jumpin' and Jammin' (Preschool)

Preschoolers can join with their parent/caregiver in a program that encourages physical fitness while strengthening your child’s large muscles through active movement activities and music. Children will learn a variety of skills such as balance, coordination, flexibility, listening skills, social skills, language and cooperation. Led by a qualified staff with a background in music, this program is age specific, but younger siblings may attend. (please only register for 1 day to allow other participants)

Jumpin' and Jammin' (Toddler)

Music invites all of us to want to move and express ourselves. In this NEW program see how using many different music genres, instruments, songs, movement and dance will inspire you and your child to get active! This is an age specific program where your child has an opportunity to meet other children, which helps encourage social development. Language skills and learning simple routines will also be demonstrated. Our qualified staff has a music background and many years of experience running our music and movement programs at MCRC.

Age: 24 to 36 months
