Creative Music (18 Months - 4 Years)

Strengthen your child’s love of music while enhancing their mood in this high-spirited class. Being “in-tune” with your child’s musical interests, you will be better equipped to help them to develop their learning potential. Through vocal activities, musical games, line dancing, rhythm drills and musical improvisation, your child will be sparked with enthusiasm. A musical gift will be provided. Facilitated by a Music Director.

Age: 18 Months - 4 Years

November-December 2019 Programs:

Baby Milestones (2-7Months)

Are you a new parent? Is this baby number two or three? Are you looking for a program to meet other parents in your community, engage in activities and embrace the time with your infant? In this parent led, hands on program parents will learn about their infant’s growth and development with Janina, Family Support Educator. Each week participants will engage in creating keepsakes of this special time you and baby have together. In this program we invite curiosity and conversations as it will be tailored specifically to the group of families to ensure you feel supported in your role as a parent.

Rock-A-Bye Babies (6-12 Months)

This interactive music program is designed to strengthen your baby’s listening skills, encourages adult and child bonding, while helping your baby to develop a sense of rhythm and beat through different musical experiences. Rock a Bye Babies introduces a variety of different music genres, playful musical activities using a variety of play props, creative movement, dancing, songs, and rhymes. Each session is different and unique, so we encourage you to register for the program more than once!.

Busy Fingers Busy Feet (7-14 Months)

Babies learn best by using all their senses. This program gives babies time and space to explore a variety of sensory experiences that are age appropriate, and help to strengthen babies’ understanding of their world. By encouraging babies to express themselves this stimulates further brain development, language and independence. The Educator provides the right combination of play based experience, expertise and knowledge to make this one of our most popular programs! There is also a special keepsake of your baby’s first finger painting for you to take home.

Age: 7 -14 months

Musical Babies (0-12 Months)

Are you looking to engage in a positive bonding experience with your child? Research has found “that participants in interactive music classes with their parents smile more, communicate better and show earlier and more sophisticated brain responses to music.” - McMaster University   Music provides positive messages to children and supplies us with wonderful ways to strengthen our connection.  Through ‘meaningful music’, learn how you can equip yourself with music which works especially well for babies, toddlers and two’s.  We will share songs, finger plays, dancing, movement and utilize varied hand-held instruments to bridge a strong link between you and your child.  Musical gift will be  provided.  Facilitated by Mrs. Tanya, Music Director of Musically Connected.  This program can be repeated as content varies.

Creativity in Motion (12-24 months)

Join us for a full-bodied exploration of how music and art connect in our world. Observe, explore, move, be inspired by and create with music, to music and use music to spark creativity. Come and join a musician and visual artist for this 7 week exploration of art media and how it can expand your idea of creativity. This is a class designed for full-bodied exploration with your favourite child.

Age: 12-24 months

Rhythms and Rainbows (12-18 Months)

Let’s explore the world of art! This program introduces your child to a variety of different painting techniques, art mediums (such as clay, collage, pastels), and much more. All materials used in the program are safe, nontoxic and age appropriate. Adding to the art experience children will explore music through play props, singing and dance. You and your child will be inspired by the “arts” all while engaging and spending quality time together. This is a small private class.

Age: 12-18 Months

Music in Bloom (0 - 5 Years)

Enrich your child with amazement and recharge yourself!  It’s time to provide your child with the opportunity to build his/her language, literacy and vocal development. You and your child will participate in using different hand-held musical instrument each week. Your child will listen to and develop rhythm, enrich their senses through joyful, creative, sweet sounding play. Musical gift will be provided. Facilitated by Mrs. Tanya, Music Director of Musically Connected. This program can be repeated as content varies.

Messing Around (18-24 Months)

Come and engage your toddler in creative exploration, and sensory experiences that will fully stimulate them! Through materials, textures, music and activities our play based learning environment and qualified staff will provide a variety of activities that promote exploration through your toddler’s senses. It will be weeks of exciting learning, experimentation, getting messy and fun. This is a small private class.

Cooking Up a Story (24-48 Months)

Join us for weekly theme stories complemented by preparing a yummy recipe. Together we will summarize each book, followed by a related activity, experiment or art project and a cooking activity! Parents assist in the recipe preparation and role model tasting new foods to encourage healthy eating habits.
Younger siblings not yet crawling may attend.

Age: 24-48 months

Sport Kidz - Sports Totz (18-30 Months)

In this youngest age group the basics of sport are taught in a fun and constantly moving environment.  Skills such as kicking, tossing, bouncing, running, hopping, balancing and jumping. This class is completely play oriented through games, skills and obstacles. Children work at their own pace and developmental level alongside their parent, while in a group setting. 

- This class requires parent participation
- Classes are 30 minutes in length
- Classes are small for individual attention and instruction
- Each child receives a t-shirt, a group and individual photo and a certificate

Soccer Shots Mini (24-36 Months)

Introducing Soccer Shots, an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on character development and a Curricula aligned to the Ontario Early Learning Skills.

Soccer Shots Mini is a high-energy program introducing children to fundamental soccer principles, such as using your feet, dribbling and the basic rules of the game. Through fun games, songs and positive reinforcement, children will begin to experience the joy of playing soccer and being active.

The basis of the mini program is to introduce children to soccer in a fun and exciting way. This program offers an introduction to soccer and movement with an emphasis on balance, coordination and confidence. Repetition, high energy and celebrating achievements are critical to the mini program, therefore you will see a repeated theme throughout the season, as well as repetition of character works for several weeks.

Age: 24-36 months - Parent Participation

Sport Kidz (30-42 Months)

In this age group children are challenged more both physically and mentally. This level is suitable for all skill levels and welcomes beginners. Children are encouraged to grow on fundamental sport skills such as running, jumping, hopping, balancing, coordination, throwing and obstacles.  More sport-specific games are introduced.

This class does require parent participation at the beginning of the program, but it is optional after week #4 for children wanting to try the class without a parent. Parents must remain in the room and close-by (main lobby) in case a child changes his/her mind about wanting a parent involved.

- Classes are 35 minutes in length
- Classes are small for individual attention and instruction
- Each child receive a t-shirt, a group and individual photo and a certificate

Learning Letters and Numbers Through Play (30-48 Months)

Join this interactive program where children and families will build on songs, stories and rhymes using open ended materials, play props and equipment that fosters learning. Participate in gross motor activities, small group time and purposeful activities with a focus on literacy and numeracy. Families will have the opportunity to create fun and exciting activities to take home and continue the learning. Younger siblings not yet crawling may attend.

Age: 30-48 months

Soccer Shots Classic (36-48 Months)

Introducing Soccer Shots, an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on character development and a Curricula aligned to the Ontario Early Learning Skills.

Soccer Shots Classic utilizes creative and imaginative games to focus on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing and shooting. We also highlight a positive character trait each session such a respect, teamwork and appreciation.

The Classic program teaches the technical skills of soccer and encourages greater confidence with ball control, using both feet, starting and stopping and changing directions by incorporating basic moves. The focus of these sessions is to individually become skilled at possessing the soccer ball and manipulating it in different ways. Through creativity, positively, and fun, we encourage new challenges and increased confidence in the classic program.

Kids Konnection (36-60 Months)

Kids Konnection is a small group setting with children aged 3 to 5 years (without their parents). Children will participate in a variety of activities, such as language through songs and stories, art, sensory play, and active play while socializing with other children, and practising basic routines that will help to prepare them for kindergarten. The Registered ECE engages the children, taking into consideration individual personalities, learning styles and interests of each child. This program also offers the child an opportunity to practice emotional self-regulation as they transition into being left on their own without the parent/caregiver.

Age: 36 -60 months

Exploring Art Together (24-48 Months)
A winter series of art classes run by both an artist and an educator, designed for the preschool children to work side by side with their adult. We will explore process-based art exploration through drawing and paint media and creative problem solving in an open studio format. This is a child and adult program.

Week 1 and 2: Drawing with graphite, charcoal and ink will be the focus of exploration for these 2 weeks, allowing each artist to engage in deep and meaningful ways with the art of expression in drawing.

Week 3 and 4: Paint media will be added to the palette of expressive media. A variety of brushes will help to take us on a journey in paint using watercolour, acrylic and gouache on beautiful papers.

FFP/ACT Collaboration:

November-December 2019 School Age Programs:

Young Engineers Jr. Bricks Challenge (4-6 Years)

This fun and unique program is for young children in preschool, daycare and kindergarten. The Junior Bricks Challenge program incorporates tactile, motor, and spatial skills while introducing science and engineering principles using LEGO® building blocks.

Program Subjects Include:

Basic and complex mathematics: Instructors teach basic math, from addition and subtraction to exponents
Famous scientific and philosophical figures: Archimedes, Sir Isaac Newton, Einstein, and more
Powers and principles in physics: Centrifugal and centripetal forces, the power of inertia, potential energy, kinetic energy, action/reaction law, buoyancy, torque, fulcrum, load division, angular momentum, and more.

Age: 4-6 Years - Parent and child participation program

Time: Saturdays 9:30-10:30am
7 sessions: November 9, November 16, November 23, November 30, December 7, December 14 and December 21

Young Engineers Brick Challenge (6-10 Years)

The Bricks Challenge program introduces elementary school children (ages 6-10) to the basic principles of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). By integrating basic arithmetic learned in school with an intuitive active learning process, children grasp a better understanding of the fundamentals of physics and engineering concepts.

Program Subjects Include:

RoboBricks (6-10 Years)

Using LEGO® parts and LEGO® WeDo graphic programming to build robots, Robo Bricks enrichment program participants learn software engineering, technology, entrepreneurship and math (STEM). During each lesson, students will assemble a robot that will perform a predetermined task. Constructing these robots will develop each student’s ability to create computer algorithms and capability to implement those computed codes.
Each student in Robo Bricks enrichment program will design a software and mechanical engineering project. Students will be critiqued by potential “investors” after they present their project proposals.

Age: 6-10 Years

Robotics (10-15 Years)

Robotic and Software Engineering (R&SE), course focuses on exploring the world of robotics from a professional engineering perspective. Special emphasis on programming solutions promotes the creation of sophisticated and accurate robots. This encourages the comprehensive learning of science, technology, mechanical and software engineering, and math (STEM).

In order to provide a real life simulation of the complex engineering challenges that exist in the industry, R&SE enrichment program uses extensive teamwork and collaborative efforts.

Age: 10 - 15 Years
