Family Christmas Party (0-6 Years)

Experience the magic of the holiday season with Family Fun program at MCRC.

Join us in celebrating at one of our Family Christmas Parties throughout the month of December.

Come prepared to participate in a magical celebration that includes:

*Decorating ornaments
*Exploring many holiday activities
*Creating holiday crafts
*Decorating a tasty Christmas treat
*A special Christmas gathering time with holiday books and songs
*A DIY Photobooth (Tuesday/Wednesday)

Saturday Tickets include a 10 minute session at the Winter Family Portrait event
Each family will choose 1 photo and receive a printed 5x7 photo as well as electronic copies of the photos taken

Merry Little Jingles (0-24 Months)

Come out to experience making musical Christmas memories!  You will share the ‘gift of music’ with your child in an amusing and energizing class.  In this program, you will share in the joyful ‘spirit’ of the season!  We will be singing cheerful Christmas carols and songs, experiencing rhythmic fun with varied instruments and dancing down the days before the holidays!  This class will be facilitated by Mrs. Tanya, Music Director where the music will also be accompanied by the electric keyboard and a guitar.

 Age: 0-24 Months

Holly Jolly Jingles (0-48 Months)

January-February 2020:

Baby Milestones (2-7Months)

Are you a new parent? Is this baby number two or three? Are you looking for a program to meet other parents in your community, engage in activities and embrace the time with your infant? In this parent led, hands on program parents will learn about their infant’s growth and development with Janina, Family Support Educator. Each week participants will engage in creating keepsakes of this special time you and baby have together. In this program we invite curiosity and conversations as it will be tailored specifically to the group of families to ensure you feel supported in your role as a parent.

Rock-A-Bye Babies (6-12 Months)

This interactive music program is designed to strengthen your baby’s listening skills, encourages adult and child bonding, while helping your baby to develop a sense of rhythm and beat through different musical experiences. Rock a Bye Babies introduces a variety of different music genres, playful musical activities using a variety of play props, creative movement, dancing, songs, and rhymes. Each session is different and unique, so we encourage you to register for the program more than once!.

Baby Explorers (5-13 Months)

Is your baby curious, eager to explore and enjoys getting messy? Come and discover a sensory based program where children discover through an assortment of materials, textures, and activities that will stimulate their senses through exciting experiences. In this developmentally appropriate small class babies will not only have fun but will build on their development.

Busy Fingers Busy Feet (7-14 Months)

Babies learn best by using all their senses. This program gives babies time and space to explore a variety of sensory experiences that are age appropriate and help to strengthen babies’ understanding of their world. By encouraging babies to express themselves this stimulates further brain development, language and independence. The Educator provides the right combination of play-based experience, expertise and knowledge to make this one of our most popular programs! There is also a special keepsake of your baby’s first finger painting for you to take home.

Sing A Happy Song! (0-4.5 Years)

You and your child will celebrate music through a collection of the happiest songs of today! Let us light up your day with musical instruments and focus on positive energy through dance and movement in this delightful happy program. Musical gift will be provided. Music in Bloom (6 Months - 5 Years)

Enrich your child with amazement and recharge before lunchtime! It’s time to provide your child with the opportunity to build his/her language, literacy and vocal development. You and your child will participate in using different hand-held musical instrument each week. Your child will listen to and develop rhythm, enrich their senses through joyful, creative, sweet sounding play. A musical gift is provided. Facilitated by Music Director of Musically Connected. This program can be repeated, as content varies.

Age: 6 Months – 4.5 Years

Rhythms and Rainbows (12-18 Months)

Let’s explore the world of art! This program introduces your child to a variety of different painting techniques, art mediums (such as clay, collage, pastels), and much more. All materials used in the program are safe, nontoxic and age appropriate. Adding to the art experience children will explore music through play props, singing and dance. You and your child will be inspired by the “arts” all while engaging and spending quality time together. This is a small private class.

Messing Around (18-24 Months)

Come and engage your toddler in creative exploration, and sensory experiences that will fully stimulate them! Through materials, textures, music and activities our play-based learning environment and qualified staff will provide a variety of activities that promote exploration through your toddler’s senses. It will be weeks of exciting learning, experimentation, getting messy and fun. This is a small private class.

Sport Kidz - Sports Totz (18-30 Months)

In this youngest age group, the basics of sport are taught in a fun and constantly moving environment. Skills such as kicking, tossing, bouncing, running, hopping, balancing and jumping. This class is completely play oriented through games, skills and obstacles. Children work at their own pace and developmental level alongside their parent, while in a group setting.

- This class requires parent participation

- Classes are 30 minutes in length

- Classes are small for individual attention and instruction

- Each child receives a t-shirt, a group and individual photo and a certificate

Creativity in Motion (18-48 months)

Join us for a full-bodied exploration of how music and art connect in our world. Observe, explore, move, be inspired by and create with music, to music and use music to spark creativity. Come and join a musician and visual artist for this 7-week exploration of art media and how it can expand your idea of creativity. This program provides parent and child the opportunity for full-bodied exploration.

Cooking Up a Story (24-48 Months)

Join us for weekly theme stories complemented by preparing a yummy recipe. Together we will summarize each book, followed by a related activity, experiment or art project and a cooking activity! Parents assist in the recipe preparation and role model tasting new foods to encourage healthy eating habits. Younger siblings not yet crawling may attend.

Soccer Shots (24-48 Months)

Introducing Soccer Shots, an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on character development and a Curricula aligned to the Ontario Early Learning Skills.

Soccer Shots is a high-energy program introducing children to fundamental soccer principles, such as using your feet, dribbling and the basic rules of the game. Through fun games, songs and positive reinforcement, children will begin to experience the joy of playing soccer and being active.

The basis of the program is to introduce children to soccer in a fun and exciting way. This program offers an introduction to soccer and movement with an emphasis on balance, coordination and confidence. Repetition, high energy and celebrating achievements are critical to the program, therefore you will see a repeated theme throughout the season, as well as repetition of character works for several weeks.

Exploring Art Together (24-48 Months)

A winter series of art classes run by both an artist and an educator, designed for the preschool children to work side by side with their adult. We will explore process-based art exploration through drawing and paint media and creative problem solving in an open studio format. This is a child and adult program.

Week 1 and 2: Drawing with graphite, charcoal and ink will be the focus of exploration for these 2 weeks, allowing each artist to engage in deep and meaningful ways with the art of expression in drawing.

Week 3 and 4: Paint media will be added to the palette of expressive media. A variety of brushes will help to take us on a journey in paint using watercolour, acrylic and gouache on beautiful papers.

FFP/ACT Collaboration:

Sport Kidz (30-42 Months)

In this age group children are challenged more both physically and mentally. This level is suitable for all skill levels and welcomes beginners. Children are encouraged to grow on fundamental sport skills such as running, jumping, hopping, balancing, coordination, throwing and obstacles. More sport-specific games are introduced.

This class does require parent participation at the beginning of the program, but it is optional after week #4 for children wanting to try the class without a parent. Parents must remain in the room and close-by (main lobby) in case a child changes his/her mind about wanting a parent involved.

- Classes are 35 minutes in length

- Classes are small for individual attention and instruction

- Each child receive a t-shirt, a group and individual photo and a certificate

Learning Letters and Numbers Through Play (30-48 Months)

Join this interactive program where children and families will build on songs, stories and rhymes using open ended materials, play props and equipment that fosters learning. Participate in gross motor activities, small group time and purposeful activities with a focus on literacy and numeracy. Families will have the opportunity to create fun and exciting activities to take home and continue the learning. Younger siblings not yet crawling may attend.

Kids Konnection (36-60 Months)

Kids Konnection is a small group setting with children aged 3 to 5 years (without their parents). Children will participate in a variety of activities, such as language through songs and stories, art, sensory play, and active play while socializing with other children, and practicing basic routines that will help to prepare them for kindergarten. The Registered ECE engages the children, taking into consideration individual personalities, learning styles and interests of each child. This program also offers the child an opportunity to practice emotional self-regulation as they transition into being left on their own without the parent/caregiver.

Mix N' Math (30-48 Months)

Come and explore simple math activities with your child in this interactive program. Through play-based activities and open-ended materials, each week families will focus on different math concepts such as sorting, patterning, measurement, shapes, graphing, and numeracy. Parents and children will be led through a variety of different play activities that will help build understanding of math concepts that will be used in kindergarten and throughout school.

Young Engineers Scratch Coding (4-10 Years)

In this interactive program students will learn how to code using Scratch Junior or Scratch while making fun and cool games and art projects. The focus is for students to understand the underlying logic and coding concepts such as if statements, loops and variables etc. Each class will result in a finished project.

Young Engineers Abacus, Singapore Math and Math Games (4-10 Years)

Using the abacus tool, students will calculate simple to complex math equations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Skills learned in this class include better and faster calculation skills, problem solving abilities, logical reasoning, sharpens concentration, and increased confidence and self-esteem in math. Singapore math is also taught in this class. We make math fun by playing math games in class as well.

e2 Young Engineers RoboBricks and Robotics (4-10 Years)

Using LEGO® parts and LEGO® WeDo graphic programming to build robots, Robo Bricks enrichment program participants learn software engineering, technology, entrepreneurship and math (STEM). During each lesson, students will assemble a robot that will preform a predetermined task. Constructing these robots will develop each student’s ability to create computer algorithms and capability to implement the code. Robotic and Software Engineering (R&SE), course focuses on exploring the world of robotics from a professional engineering perspective. Special emphasis on programming solutions promotes the creation of sophisticated and accurate robots. This encourages the comprehensive learning of science, technology, mechanical and software engineering, and math (STEM).

e2 Young Engineers Jr. Brick Challenge/Brick Challenge/Galileo (4-10 Years)

The Junior Bricks Challenge, Bricks Challenge and Galileo program introduces elementary school children (ages 6-12) to the basic principles of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). By integrating basic arithmetic learned in school with an intuitive active learning process, children grasp a better understanding of the fundamentals of physics and engineering concepts. Basic and complex mathematics: Instructors teach basic math, from addition and subtraction to exponents Famous scientific and philosophical figures: Archimedes, Sir Isaac Newton, Einstein, and more Powers and principles in physics: Centrifugal and centripetal forces, the power of inertia, potential energy, kinetic energy, action/reaction law, buoyancy, torque, fulcrum, load division, angular momentum, and more.
