Funtastic Summer Programs

Join Artists and Children Together for a summer of creating different types of Art for a variety of age groups and learning techniques through fun and engaging art activities using high quality materials with an ACT Artist in our beautiful studio setting. The programs will run Tuesday to Thursday each week from 9am to 12 pm for $125 each week.

Art Club for Kids

Participants in the ACT Art Club for Kids will have the opportunity to begin to build skills using a variety of art media in open-ended ways. Children will have the opportunity to explore, learn and collaborate with one another using art materials, and engaging in alternate ways of sharing their thoughts, feelings and ideas in a friendly and social setting in ACT’s art studio. This will allow for exploration of self-expression, mindfulness and social connection throughout their time in the program with an ACT Artist using art as a language. The ACT Art Club for Kids offers sessions for kids in Senior Kindergarten through Grade 3.

Art Club for Youth

Participants in the ACT Art Club for Youth will have the opportunity to begin to build skills using a variety of art media in open-ended ways. Participants will have the opportunity to explore, learn and collaborate with one another using art materials, and engaging in alternate ways of sharing their thoughts, feelings and ideas in a friendly and social setting in ACT’s art studio. The ACT Art Club for Youth offers sessions for youth in Grades 4 through 8.

Culinary Arts
Focaccia Art Friday

Join an Artist in our ACT ‘Make & Take’ culinary arts Focaccia Art Friday! In this workshop you will design and create your very own edible art landscape on focaccia dough using herbs, spices and some vegetables. You will be able to take your beautiful and unique focaccia bread home to enjoy.

Expression in Art with Cayla Townes

Express yourself through art and art experiences! Join ACT in a one hour session using art materials and dialogue. This workshop fosters engagement, creative reflection, self-expression, and mindfulness. Participants will have the opportunity to explore, learn and collaborate with one another using art materials like charcoal, pastel, bleeding tissue paper, and fineliners to engage in alternate ways of sharing their thoughts, feelings and ideas in a friendly and social setting. This session is only $35 and includes all materials.

 

Cayla Townes is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO. She has worked with adults, children, and families in a variety of settings and also provides psycho-educational groups about emotional literacy and regulation, and issues related to grief and aging. She enjoys providing an environment where people can learn more about themselves and how they relate to others.

 


Community Partnerships

Call for Youth Artists

Halton Equity Diversity Roundtable (HEDR) and Milton Community Resource Centre (MCRC) are co-hosting HEDR's annual Leadership Conference June 6th 2024, providing an opportunity for Youth Artists (ages 13-25) living in Milton to enter an art piece for consideration using the theme "Interconnectedness" . The selected art piece will be featured in all the promotional materials for this 2024 Conference and will be paid an honorarium.
Criteria and details:
  • This is a Milton Community Competition for Milton youth
  • If selected, the Artist's art submission will be:
    • featured on the cover of the HEDR marketing  packages i.e. Magazine along with any other promotions
    • an honorarium will be offered
  • Art piece can be created using any medium, however, 3d art work may not translate well into print
    • Theme of art work: Interconnectedness. What does this mean to you as an Artist or as a community member?
    • Deadline for art submission is April 8, 2024
  • Art must be photographed/scanned and submitted in a high resolution jpeg, png, or pdf
  • Orientation of work is recommended to be in portrait form
  • Art submission sent to kimd@mcrc.on.ca

Artists and Children Together Registration Cancellation Policy

If a written request is submitted to withdraw from a program 5 Business days prior to the first class…A full refund minus a $25.00 administration fee will be provided in the same manner the original payment was made.
If a written request to withdraw is received within the first 2 weeks of the program…A pro-rated refund minus the cost of each completed class as well as a $25.00 administration fee will be provided in the same manner the original payment was made.
If a written request to withdraw is received after the second week of program…No refund will be issued.
If MCRC ACT programs cancel a program due to low enrollment or circumstances beyond our control…A full refund will be issued in the way in the same manner the original payment was made.
