The focus of this presentation is critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making. We begin with a discussion around assumptions and getting curious, identify that an important leadership quality is exploring new ideas, regularly ask uncomfortable questions to see the bigger picture. We discuss why this may feel difficult to direct at ourselves and our beliefs. We then distinguish between taking a critical lens and criticism and discuss when the right time is to use a critical lens. We go over the steps to problem-solving before moving on to a discussion on decision-making and navigating difficult decisions, like relationships, career choices, peer pressure, and more. We encourage collaborating with others to help with difficult decisions, and tie that back to leadership qualities. We end on how to identify and respond to controversy.
